Tips for Stocking a Healthy Pantry

We all know that having healthy pantry foods in the house helps us eat better and stay consistent. You’re not reaching for the chips and ice cream when that stuff isn’t around, right?

However, a big component of that is to stock your pantry ahead of time with things that will virtually ensure your success.

I’m going to cover how I do that, and what exactly I buy.  Plus, at the end of this post I’ll send you a PDF checklist to use in your own home!

Here are my best tips to stock your pantry with healthy items

1.  Buy in bulk whenever possible. The fewer trips I make to the store the better.

2.  Buy online for the best prices. Thrive Market is where I shop for many of my pantry items, since it’s usually always cheaper than places like Whole Foods.

3.  If possible, try to shop for things that are out of your comfort zone, like unusual spice blends. With some unique ingredients, you can turn simple foods like eggs into a gourmet or fun meal.

4.  Buy organic as much as possible. Food quality matters.

5.  Put a piece of paper in your kitchen and annotate when you run out of something.  Or, keep a list on your phone in Evernote or the Clear app.  Either way, use your list to shop from so you don’t forget something next time you’re at the store.

Here are the categories that I use and the things that I typically stock in my home. I can’t list everything, but this can serve as a guide.

Also, if you want a downloadable printable (PDF) checklist version of these items, enter your email here or at the bottom of this post and I’ll send it straight to your inbox!
